This website is designed to answer common questions about healthy newborn babies who are assigned to the NORMAL NEWBORN NURSERY when they are born. It also addresses common questions and situations which, while not normal, would NOT require a newborn to need a higher level of care -- care that would assign the baby to a neonatal intensive care unit, or a secondary level of care.

The answers in this website pertain to newborn babies in general. They DO NOT PERTAIN to any particular baby, or individual baby. Your newborn baby is unique, and should be treated as a unique individual. Health care decisions for YOUR baby should be decided by you and your baby's doctor.
